August 24, 2019 Athens to Volos, Greece

We both enjoyed the great Greek breakfast with the great view.  We took the metro to the train station and boarded the Train to Larisa and on to Volos.  We had the last 2 reserved first class seats.  It was interesting to see the countryside for about the first hour.  Seemed like a long 4 hour ride.

We took a taxi to the ferry port to get our tickets.  By going to the office, we were able to get a 30% discount with our Eurail passes.  We caught another taxi to our hotel (it was too difficult to explain to the first taxi driver to wait or come back).  The hotel was on the water and our room had a nice balcony with a sea view.  We walked along the beach and found a great outdoor restaurant.  We enjoyed our first Ouzo and local red wine.

there were two separate weddings at this church while we ate dinner

Unfortunately, there was a typical Greek wedding at our hotel that night.  The dance music went all night.  Dave made a few calls and a trip to the front desk and didn’t sleep.
