We had friends from Rapid City spending a month in St Augustine, FL, Harold and Juli Doerr. They decided to drive to GA with another couple from Rapid City to spend the day with us. We all met at Jekyll Island for the day.
We had lunch at the Wharf restaurant on the ICW. Then we walked around the grounds of the Jekyll Island Club Resort and through the hotel. We drove to the south end of the island and stopped near the fishing pier. I bought boiled peanuts for the South Dakotans to try. They had never had them and all liked them.

Next stop was Driftwood Beach on the east/ocean side. Great photo ops. We stopped near a shopping area to get some plastic silverware and plates. Doerrs pulled out a key lime pie to share with everyone. We shared 2 or 3 of them in the Bahamas a few years ago, so they brought one for “old time’s sake”. It hit the spot. After touring a little longer, they decided they needed to head back to St Augustine, about a 2 hour drive.
