July 31, 2018 Dave's birthday

Happy 63rd birthday Dave!!  We took the dinghy into town again for his favorite meal to eat out, breakfast.  We found the city dock by the welcome center.  Needed to check that out for bringing in laundry.  We had a nice breakfast at the Beehive.

On my dad’s 63rd birthday, he and my mom were visiting us in Germany while Dave was stationed there with the Air Force.  That day we had taken a Rhine River cruise.   In German, 63 is drei and sechzig.  So he said he was “dry and sexy on the Rhine”.  Dave thinks this should be his dry and sexy year.
After breakfast, I packed up laundry to take back to the Welcome center.  The last time we did laundry was July 6.  But we wear the same clothes for several days.  There were 2 washers and 2 dryers.  Luckily no one else was using them because I had 4 loads.

Dave spent the day tilling the diesel tank from the jerry cans and the bladder.  Now that the bladder is empty, he decided to store it.  He mostly wanted to test it out before we do a longer passage offshore.  And we’re glad he did, so we could figure out the best way to mount it on the deck.
Dave also mounted our electric fog horn.  When we are moving in fog, we are supposed to do one long blast every 2 minutes, which I didn’t do a few days ago.  You can go through an air horn pretty quick doing that.  So we have an electric one ready to go.

We went back into town for Dave’s birthday dinner at Leo’s Restaurant.  We both had the clam linguine.  We were surprised to see the clams in the shells when they served it.  I guess we’re not in South Dakota.  I had them bring Tiramisu to the table with a candle in it for his birthday cake.
