We picked up Kylie at her home this morning and drove about 3 hours south of Perth to the area of Margaret River. It is a vacation spot known for it's craft breweries, boutiques and surrounding wineries.

When we reached the town of Margaret River, we stopped at a bakery to pick up some treats for our airbnb. We went into town and had lunch at Settlers Tavern. We've noticed at a few casual restaurants that people order food at a counter, then a waitress will bring you your food. Fun food today were lamb shank and Korean BBQ chicken wings. Dave is a chicken wing snob and he LOVED them. I enjoyed trying the local beer, River Ridge Pilsner.

We walked down the main street full of shops with a fudge shop as our destination, at Kylie's recommendation. We bought several treats to enjoy on our mini vacation together. We booked an airbnb on a small farm outside of Margaret River. So we went to a grocery store to pick up some fruit, meat and cheese for our dinner that night and our breakfast the next day.
It was short drive to our airbnb. When we pulled into the property, we saw our first kangaroos. That was what sold me in the description of the airbnb. On the sidewalk to our door, there was a banana tree. Kylie had never seen one before.

After getting settled, Kylie and I went to a near by winery, Cape Mentelle. Kylie doesn't drink, but I enjoyed the tasting. Back at our airbnb, we enjoyed a simple dinner. The only heat was a wood burning stove in the common area. Our rooms had electric heaters. It was spring time and still a little chilly.
