Dave took me to shore by dinghy for mass at 9:00am. I had to walk a couple blocks, so I arrived early. This church is St Ann’s, same as the parish where I grew up in Miller, SD. So it always seems special to be here. They had a priest here for Holy Week, otherwise they have a deacon say mass.
During mass, there was a baptism of a young girl. She looked like she was about 6 years old. She was dressed in a pretty white dress, similar to what she would wear for her first communion. Her younger brother had on a suit and tie. So cute!
There was a special Polish tradition at the end of the mass for a couple from Poland. They brought a basket that the priest blessed for them. Then they had a blessing for someone celebrating their birthday. And one more blessing for a couple celebrating their 13th wedding anniversary. It is a nice small community which I enjoyed being a part of.
Dave picked me up after church. We had a nice pork dinner for our special Easter meal. We also had pumpkin pie. I know this isn’t the traditional holiday, but that’s the ingredients we had for dessert. You make do when you’re on a boat.
there are 6 boats in this photo. Our's is to the right of the center with another boat behind it |
