April 1, 2017 Joe and Erin Clausen, Staniel Cay, Exumas

We picked up Joe and Erin by dinghy at the Staniel Cay airport around 1:00pm.  The airport is near Isles General Store.  We take our dinghy up a creek and use their dock.  We also picked up some fresh produce at their store as a thank you for using their dock.  Actually, it was very well stocked with fresh produce.

We made it to the boat with all 4 of us and their luggage in one trip.  There is a great place to snorkel here, but it is best at low tide.  So Joe, Erin and Dave snorkeled the grotto while I tended the dinghy.  This area was in the 1965 James Bond movie Thunderball.

We plan to leave here in the morning, so we hit all the tourist spots.  We took them to “pig beach” on the adjacent island, Big Majors.  Always entertaining.

We cleaned up and had a nice dinner and drinks at Staniel Cay Yacht Club.  It’s nice to sit outside and watch the sunset while having dinner.  Great first day!!

 Today was actually the 40th anniversary of the day Dave asked me to marry him.  He was in basic training for the Air Force.  He didn't even realize what day it was-April Fool's Day.  He called me and asked me to marry him over the phone.  See, things don't have to be picture perfect to make a good marriage.  He still surprises me with his unconventional ways.
